FAQs

W-Harambee is an online fundraising platform built on top of WhatsApp. It lets you create a paybill account number and a payment link in under 2 minutes and automatically posts real-time updates to the selected WhatsApp group.

  • Takes less than 2 minutes to set up.
  • No withdrawal charges—raise KES 1,000,000, get KES 1,000,000.
  • Donors get unlimited automated updates in real time.

All funds are securely held with ONIT Bank, a CBK-regulated institution. Your money is safe, traceable, and protected. All withdrawals go only to the registered number used during registration.

W-Harambee uses:
  • Verified identity systems (KYC)
  • Transparent dashboards
  • Smart alerts for suspicious activity
  • Public-facing pages for donors to track progress

Yes. Treasurers can manage multiple fundraisers from one account. Each fundraiser gets its own unique contribution link.

  • Zero withdrawal charges.
  • One-off Kes.200 account set-up fee per fundraiser.
  • A service charge based on standard mobile money transfer fees, clearly shown to donors.

Any time. No waiting period, no minimum balance, nothing to approve. Withdrawals go only to the payout details set for your fundraiser, and usually arrive within a few minutes.

Currently, we support KES fundraising only. International and multi-currency support is coming soon.

It’s our way of asking: What’s Your Why? Your W could be Wanafunzi, Waandamanaji, Wajane… Everyone has a reason to harambee. Share your W.

Absolutely. We support:
  • Group harambees
  • NGOs
  • Student bodies
  • Church campaigns
  • Chamas

Message our support team via +254 720 333375 or support@w-harambee.com. We take fraud seriously.

Yes. Cash handed to you, a bank transfer, a payment sent to another number — add it one at a time, or paste the list straight from your group chat and we will read the names and amounts for you to check. Nothing counts until you approve it. Once approved it appears in the contribution list, the reports and your WhatsApp updates like any other contribution. Because that money never passed through W-Harambee, it is never part of what you withdraw.
